Website Design is like the "skin" on the "bones" of website development.

Website design is about making your website pleasing on the eye and easy for your website visitors to find the information that they are looking for. Nothing is going to frustrate a potential client more than landing on your website and then not being able to find what they want. They will soon go elsewhere to find another website which will give them the information that they are in search of.

Colour schemes are important to the look of your website - for example, blue is mostly associated with IT companies and blue tends to be a "cold" colour. Red maybe considered a "warm" colour but it can also be applied to being angry or danger... but look at Sainsbury's - they have mixed red and orange together to produce a nice warm colour scheme and instantly recogniseable.

Font / Typography this can also have a major impact on your website - a website with 3 or 4 different font types can put a customer off because it doesn't "flow". Of course different font size is a different matter but clarity of the font and it's use is something that needs to be considered in creating a website with an impact and a clear message.
